Health Insurance Survey Indicates an Alarming Rate of Uninsured Americans

© leoncillo sabinoA recent health insurance survey has revealed that more than 9 million American adults lost their health insurance coverage due to job loss in the previous year, 2010. The Commonwealth Fund 2010 Biennial Health Insurance Survey estimates that almost 57 percent of people in the country lost their insurance due to the recession.
The report further indicates that unemployed people find it very difficult to get affordable health insurance. Of the estimated 9 million working adults that lost their health insurance last year, only 25 percent of them have been able to receive health coverage from another source. Another 14 percent were able to receive coverage through COBRA, a government program that provides health and other insurance coverage for the unemployed.
