Such were the finding from a long-term study. The said long term study is the Whitehall II study -- a long-term health investigation of more than 10,000 London office workers who've been tracked since 1985. This particular study tracked the health of 6,014 of these men and women for an average of 11 years.
According to the said study, rates of angina, nonfatal heart attacks and death from heart-related conditions was 60 percent higher in people who worked at least three hours beyond "the normal, seven-hour day" compared with those who didn't work overtime.
Findings have been published in the European Heart Journal. Now we all have a valid excuse for not working overtime.
