Of course someone named Veggie Chic would know that giving up meat would help the environment. And of course, locally grown food cuts down on carbon emissions from having stuff trucked everywhere- but by joining a food cooperative and encouraging local farmers to produce food sustainably and organically (and helping them by providing money up front so they can alter their crops) can also help. Of course, you may occasionally wind up with a food you've never heard of, but on the fun side, you get to try something new!
