When Healthcare Providers Go Bad
Normally, we should trust our doctors.

Well, we tend to trust them with our lives in the context that they should have our best interests (as patients) at heart.

The cases below are something we hope we don't experience with our own doctors:

Ninth Doctor Sentenced in Nationwide Illegal Internet Prescription Drug Distributions

Dr. Michael Millette, 46, of Crystal Lake, Ill. will serve prison time for illegally prescribing more than 62 million dosage units over the internet.

Chiropractor, Clinic Owner and Doctor Sentenced for Health Care Fraud

JOHN MONTONI, age 53, of 193 Washington Street, Gloucester, Massachusetts: a chiropractor sentenced to 3 years probation and ordered to cease practicing chiropractic medicine for a period of 3 years and pay restitution in the amount of approximately $20,000.

IGOR MOYSEYEV, age 47, of 20 Keefe Avenue, Newtonville, Massachusetts: a Physical Therapylinks clinic owner sentenced to 1 year and 6 months imprisonment, to be followed by 3 years of supervised release and ordered to pay approximately $65,000 in restitution.

DR. DAVID TAMAREN, age 61, of Marblehead: a physician sentenced to 3 years probation and ordered to cease practicing medicine for a period of 3 years and pay a fine of $10,000 and restitution of approximately $3,000.

[...from 1999 to 2001, MONTONI, a chiropractor, treated automobile accident victims at physical therapy clinics in Chelsea and Lynn, including at a Chelsea clinic owned by MOYSEYEV.

While working at these clinics, MONTONI and TAMAREN signed numerous prescriptions for electromyograms (a nerve function test) that were never actually performed and MONTONI signed phony reports indicating that the tests had been done.

MOYSEYEV then submitted the phony reports to insurance companies for reimbursement. MOYSEYEV also laundered a portion of the proceeds of the fraud by using them to pay the company that prepared the insurance claims forms on his behalf.]

Well I hope you aren't a victim of a similar case.
