© apdkIf you're suffering from vision problems like nearsightedness, color blindness or lazy eye, chances are your children will be having those problems too. These eye problems are often inherited from one generation to the next.
For example, a child who has both parents as nearsighted has a 50% greater chance of being nearsighted too, than one whose parents both have normal vision.
How can you tell your child may be having vision problems? Note when your child complains of headaches, or often squints or tears up. Most of these symptoms may take place while reading, watching TV or at the end of a school day. And of course, if your child wears the wrong colored clothes, have them checked for color blindness.
As soon as you notice eye problems taking place, have your child's eyes checked by a pediatric optometrist regularly. You have to be closely attentive to eye problems among your kids if you have several family members wearing glasses or contact lenses. Some vision problems can be corrected if detected early on.
