WedMD Fires Top Tech Guy
Filed in archive Miscellany , News on April 21, 2007
WebMD, the leading resource of trustworthy and timely health and medical news and information, fired its top tech guy, Chief Technology Officer David Gang, 52 years old, who served since July 2005 as executive Vice President and chief technology officer.
His original salary was $560,000, slightly more than what Wayne Gattinella -- who was his co-CEO and now holds that office solo, as well as being the company's president -- took home in 2005 base pay.
Gang also got a $500,000 signing bonus and a boatload of options and restricted stock, plus an $11,000-a-month housing allowance so he could afford to live in New York City.
WedMD spokeperson's only statement is that Gang was fired "without cause".
Hmm...maybe WebMD cannot afford him anymore?
But the sack came following the redesign and relaunch of the WebMD.com website.
