© Gnarls MonkeyThis month, "The Pill" will have been in use for exactly 50 years. And while we've taken great strides in the medical community in terms of contraception, we must still be very vigilant on HIV/AIDS, STDs and other viruses. The Pill can only help against unwanted pregnancies, but should not be the sole form of contraception for women, as The Pill does not eliminate the risk of diseases.
According to Carol Carrozza, VP of Marketing for Ansell Healthcare, the makers of LifeStyles® Condoms:
"The Pill has often been credited with advancing family planning and a woman's ability to have more contraceptive choices, but that's only part of the story. In the U.S. we're faced with perhaps the highest trends in sexually transmitted infections ever, and besides abstinence, (putting) on a condom can help prevent the ongoing spread of these diseases. Five of the top 10 reportable diseases in the U.S. are STI's according to ASHA, and they could have been prevented by using a condom."
In lieu of the inability of the pill to prevent STDs, LifeStyles® Condoms has recently introduced a signature collection of condoms: The new KYNG™ and THYN™ condoms join the consumer favorite polyisoprene SKYN™ to launch the LifeStyles Signature Collection.
Prevent STDs, HIV/AIDS by practicing safe sex all the time.
