SC Johnson's Glade® Products Does Not Contain 1,4 DCB, Says Company PR
Filed in archive Miscellany , News on August 15, 2006
Recently, a study conducted by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and published in the August 2006 issue of the journal Environmental Health Perspectives suggested exposure to 1,4 DCB(also known as paradichlorobenzene or pDCB) may cause modest reductions in lung function.
In lieu of such findings, SC Johnson (makers of Glade® products) stated once more that none of its products contains the chemical ingredient 1,4 dicholorobenzene (1,4 DCB).
"Unfortunately in many news reports, images of Glade® products are used to illustrate the study leaving viewers with the false impression that
Glade® contains this ingredient. It does not," said Kelly M. Semrau, Vice President Global Public Affairs and Communication for SC Johnson.
"Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of the people who use our products," said Semrau. "That's why it's so important for us to set the record straight and make it clear that our products do not contain the compound that was under investigation in the recent study. As a matter of fact, none of our products have this ingredient."
SC Johnson is a 120-year old family-owned and -managed business dedicated to innovative, high-quality products, excellence in the workplace and a long-term commitment to the environment and the communities in which it operates.
SC Johnson markets the following well-known brands: EDGE®, GLADE®, OFF!®, PLEDGE®, RAID®, SCRUBBING BUBBLES®, SHOUT®, WINDEX® and ZIPLOC®in the U.S. and beyond, with brands marketed outside the U.S. including AUTAN®, BAYGON®, BRISE®, ECHO®, KABIKILLER®, KLEAR®, and MR. MUSCLE®.
