© madelineyokiThese days, the television is just full of reality makeover shows. These shows may appear to have different platforms ranging from a minor hairstyle redo, dental improvements, skin peeling up to the most extreme, like a complete facial and body transformation through plastic surgery.
Yet the message is the same, that you are not beautiful enough!
In a recent episode of the News at 5 on Fox's 29 channel, TV show host Kerri Lee Halkett had psychologist Patrick Markey as guest. Markey was interviewed by Halkett regarding his findings from a study about the effects of TV makeovers on viewers, specifically whether or not these people wanted to have plastic surgery on themselves.
According to the research study results, people felt that by changing appearance, they become happier individuals. Women and younger adults and teens were most susceptible to the media message, thus increasing their desire to have the procedures done to them.
Markey (currently with Villanova University), conducted the study with his wife and a group of researchers from Rutgers University.
