Polymethoxylated Flavones (PMFs): Citrus Peel Extracts Beneficial To Diabetics
Filed in archive Studies , Treatment on June 25, 2006
It has been reported the citrus peel extracts: polymethoxylated flavones (PMFs) have beneficial effects on cholesterol-levels but a new study by a research collaboration of the University of hawaii and KGK Synergize (a Canadian nutraceutical company) is the first one that looked in detail at the benefits reports that the extracts have positive effects on inflammatory cytokine levels.
Biomarkers of insulin resistance, diabetes, and obesity were observed at a significant decrease after supplementation with PMF.
The new study is published in the journal Life Sciences (Vol. 79, pp. 365-373). More details at NutraIngredients.
