Pfizer's Selzentry(TM) (maraviroc), Approved by the FDA for Adult HIV Patients

The antiretroviral drug maraviroc -sold under the trade name Selzentry(TM) - has recently been approved by the US FDA for use in adult HIV patients.
Maraviroc is approved for use in combination with other antiretroviral drugs for the treatment of adults with CCR5-tropic HIV-1, who have been treated with other HIV medications and who have evidence of elevated levels of HIV in their blood (viral load).
HIV is the virus that causes AIDS.
A product of Pfizer, maraviroc is the first in a new class of drugs designed to slow the advancement of HIV that received FDA priority review status.
Selzentry(TM) is a novel oral HIV treatment.
