Penile Fracture Is Not Just Something Out Of Grey's Anatomy!

Yes folks, penile fracture is not just something you see on Grey's Anatomy, there is a medical fact behind it.

Most probably under-reported for obvious reasons, penile fracture or "broken penis" is actually a not-so-rare case according to experts.

Penile fracture can be due to various reasons: sexual intercourse, masturbation or trauma such as a car accident.

A penile fracture is an extremely rare injury caused by the rupture of the tunica albuginea, which envelops the corpus cavernosum penis. It is an uncommon injury, most often caused by a blunt trauma to an erect penis.

In the western world the most common cause, accounting for about 30%-50% of cases, is intercourse. Of those, woman-on-top positions resulting in impact against the female pelvis or perineum and bending laterally are most common.

Take note though that a bent penis needs surgical intervention, most especially to make sure that the urethra is not cut. What to do when you got penile fracture? Go to the doctor immediately so you can be sent to an O.R. as soon as possible.
