Broccoli and cauliflower are two of my favorite vegetables these days. Between the two, broccoli i love better because most parts are more tender than cauliflower's when steamed or cooked.

However, it is the most expensive vegetable here (180 pesos per kilo = around 4.1 USD - to us this is expensive for a vegetable! That's even more expensive than a kilo of pork's meat: 130 pesos per kilo).

Well, I just close my eyes when i pick broccoli from the supermarket's vegetable section and just think of its health benefits. Around here, eating healthfully can be too expensive at times.

But anyway, I mentioned health benefits of these cruciferous vegetables, most especially the anti-cancer benefits:

Broccoli and Cauliflower Inhibit Hereditary Cancer

Have More Cabbages and Broccolis while Pregnant and Protect your Child Against Cancer

Phytochemicals in Cruciferous Vegetables Suppress Human Prostate Cancer Cells

Like Eating Broccoli? Better Eat Broccoli Sprouts

I really wish I could eat broccoli everyday or even grow it in my backyard. Anyway, through the years I've learned to love eating most of our local green leafy veggies, broccoli is the "foreign" addition.

What about you? Do you like broccoli or cauliflower?
