New Storybook Helps Parents Teach Their Children About Asthma
As a chronic condition affecting nearly one out of every 10 child and accounting for almost 13 million missed school days each year, asthma continues to emerge as a major public health problem among the younger population. This problem is even more pronounced for parents who struggle with how to best communicate the implications of an asthma diagnosis to their child and how to manage their child's asthma.

It is important for parents to be able to talk with their children about asthma and work with their healthcare provider to establish an appropriate treatment plan. Therefore, to help facilitate those conversations, Schering-Plough has partnered with the Allergy & Asthma Network Mothers of Asthmatics (AANMA) to develop Breathless Bethany Buttercup, a children's storybook that uses a little girl's story about her experience with asthma to provide information about asthma management.
