Most Physicians Favor HPV Vaccination
Texas State has agreed to mandate the HPV vaccination. Florida however is still stalling on the matter, while the rest of the country has varying opinions.

The global healthcare marketing research company - Medimix International - in a survey conducted, revealed the following:

  • 97% of physicians agree that the new HPV vaccine should be administered

  • 43% of surveyed physicians responded that the government should mandate the new HPV vaccine

  • 57%think that the HPV vaccine should not be mandated

  • more than two-thirds of physicians surveyed said only "vaccines for diseases that pose a significant risk of death and contagion" should be mandated at all

  • 20% said that children whose parents opt out of mandated vaccines should not be allowed to attend public school

  • 63% of the physicians surveyed believe that certain groups are wrong in arguing mandating the HPV vaccine promotes promiscuity

Mandate or no mandate, I agree that parents of young girls (if not the girls themselves) should agree to the HPV vaccination.

Well I guess it just goes down to the fact that however parents would like to be in control, they have actually no control over their daughters' sexual lives. These young girls are going to be sexually active whether their parents like them to be - and that's a fact that not many parents would like to admit.

It would be hard to any parent (I'm not even looking forward to it) but at some point you have to remind your son to use the condom, your daughter about the pill and her other options of contraception; we all have to educate our children about sex, AIDS and other sexually-transmitted diseases anyway.

If I were a U.S. resident and had a daughter, I see nothing wrong with mandating the HPV vaccination. The issue I'm looking at is protection from HPV infection and not the promotion of promiscuity. I'll look at the mandate not as violation of my human rightslinks (and my rights as a parent) but the government's iron hand telling its female citizens to get themselves protected from HPV - actually like parents telling a son or a daughter about the use of a condom or a pill.

But that's just me and I am not even an American citizen.

What do you think?
