March Is Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Awareness Month

As March being the AMD (age-related macular degeneration) Awareness Month, the American Academy of Ophthalmology is reminding people that even though there is no cure to AMD, there are current treatments that can recover vision loss (further preventing blindness) and that early detection of the condition is the key to saving eyesight.
People aged above 50 is recommended to see an ophthalmologist for a comprehensive, dilated eye examination every one to two years to ensure that AMD and other vision-threatening conditions are detected and treated early.
