Long Bike Rides Can Cause Erectile Difficulties in Men
Filed in archive Cases , Studies on February 13, 2007
In men who ride a bike for more than three hours a day, the risk of temporary erectile dysfunction is highest.
Sitting on a bicycle for a long time puts pressure on the perineum, the area between the genitals and anus. This pressure can harm nerves and temporarily impede blood flow, causing tingling or numbness in the penis and, eventually, erectile dysfunction.
This fact has been suggested in a new report from Harvard Medical School entitled "What to Do about Erectile Dysfunction", which is available for 16$ from the Harvard Health publications.
