Gates Foundation World Malaria Day Blogger Teleconference

World Malaria Day is on April 25.

In honor of the day, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has decided to host a blogger-exclusive teleconference today, Thursday, April 23 at 10:30am PT (1:30pm ET) to highlight exciting malaria research being conducted through the Grand Challenges Explorations initiative (GCE).

GCE was established to test bold, innovative solutions to tough global health challenges. More information on the program can be found online.

Speakers on the teleconference will include:

• Regina Rabinovich, Director, Infectious Diseases Development, Global Health Program, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation


• Andrew Serazin, Program Officer, Discovery, Global Health Program, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation


• Szabolcs Marka, Assistant Professor, Columbia University


• Brian Foy, Assistant Professor, Colorado State University


• Pradipsinh Rathod, Professor, University of Washington

Drs. Marka, Foy and Rathod received GCE grants during the first round of GCE funding. Now six months into their 1-year grant, the researchers will provide insights into their projects and malaria control strategies.
