Detox diet fad

There's no point in going through a detoxing diet:
The foods allowed and banned can vary widely, but generally fruit, vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds, herbal teas and massive amounts of water are allowed.
In contrast, wheat, dairy, meat, fish, eggs, caffeine, alcohol, salt, sugar and processed foods - most of the foods that many people love - are banned.
But if our body is already designed to expel waste, what is the point of detoxing? There isn't any point, according to new research, which says the body can recover from the excesses of Christmas on its own.

Yeah, that is logical. But why the explanation now? I guess, simple things are hard to find.

I have been using Kombucha tea and have found it quite good. The tea has antibiotic, antibacterial and antiviral properties and purifies the body by binding to toxins and promoting their excretion.

Hmm. If the body was made to expel toxins, then obviously that's what it does. A dam is meant to hold water back, but if there's too much water, it will break or water will go over the top.
Our bodies were not made to handle nearly 2 million toxins in our day-to-day lives. It seems, as a society, we have created too many poisons for our own good.
I'm not saying people should do detox diets. The commercialism of it is disgusting--"Pay us,and we'll make you well." What I'm saying is this: people should probably do what they can to minimize their toxic input and maximize toxic output. And I think it's rather dismissive and irresponsible to tell people simplistically, "Your body will do it on it's own. Don't waste your time."

I disagree. A good detox diet plan based on fruits, vegetables and juices can make a difference in people's health and general well-being. It's a fact.
