According to a new study in mice supplements of niacin-bound chromium(III) may reduce blood pressure, thereby offering benefits to cardiovascular health.
Results of the new study indicate that niacin-bound chromium III (NBC) may act as an ACE inhibitor, which work by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to the potent vasoconstrictor, angiotensin II, thereby improving blood flow and blood pressure.
ACE inhibitors made by drug companies have been found to be beneficial in treating hypertension, particularly in patients with type-1 or type-2 diabetes, and also appear to provide good cardiovascular and renal protection. Pharmaceutical ACE-inhibitors do however have side effects.
Well...let's wait and see if the same is true in human trials, right?

Does this mean that a blood-pressure lowering supplement will be made available soon with chromium? I read a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that immunized milk lowers blood pressure and even cholesterol. I have been taking immunized milk supplements as a result and I haven't had a problem with my cholesterol or blood pressure levels since. But I am very curious to find out what will become of this chromium study.
