It's not just the consumer that is subject to this industry! Being a "cellphone sales rep" and having the duty of programming and demonstrating text messaging for hours a day assisting several customers a day, has taken a toll on my hands. I never heard of "Blackberry Thumb" until I got it, and it can be extremely painful!
The problem is, pushing the little keypad with my thumbs or fingers is required with my position, and often our store is packed with customers so there is little time for a break and moving at a fast pace is essential - especially if you work on commission!

Something that might help - if you are a doctor, prescribe a topical ointment to help with the nerve pain, such as Zostrix, for arthritis. It has helped me cut down my pain med intake fm 1x4hrs to 2xday! It does not eliminate the pain completely, or at least not for me, but I'd rather use ointment than narcotics!

I am also a firm believer that companies - whether it be the manufacturer or the sales office - need to educate the sales staff the complications that can arise and ways to prevent this injury since the reps really dont have a choice on pushing those buttons whereas consumers can decide on when they want to use their device and how.
